Experience Matter

Why Subfloors Matter

Almost every aspect of a remodel can and will be effected by the levelness of the subfloor. From uneven cabinets or appliances, floors that slope or bounce up and down when walked on, to furniture legs rocking back and forth. An uneven subfloor can cause all sorts of problems. We are trained to look for subfloor issues, but a lot of times these issues are hidden in plain site. Placing a 6' or 8' level across the subfloor is the best way to locate areas of concern. We have skilled workers who can help level subfloors, ensuring the best results and making sure your purchase qualifies for the manufactures warranty.

Why Moisture Matter

Delamination
Buckled Hardwood

Environmental moisture is everywhere and it changes all year round. Normal relative humidity levels in a home should range between 30%-50% to ensure successful long-term performance of your wood. Most homes don't have a whole home humidifier but with proper acclimation and moisture testing can help your floors manage these changes. A general rule of thumb is to acclimate for 24-72 hours, but sometimes it can take longer. It's not about time, it's about moisture. Improperly acclimated floors can buckle or bow. Large amounts of moisture can delaminate engineered hardwoods or laminate. We test the subfloor and the material to make sure moisture levels are within tolerance to ensure the best possible installation outcome. Heat and power are very important during a remodel as well. The work space must be between 65 -70 degrees at least one week prior to work beginning.

Why Baseboards Matter

Newly painted baseboards or millwork can make the whole project come together, and most people don't realize that their baseboard actually serves a purpose. Baseboards are installed because almost all flooring needs an expansion gap for proper installation. There are hundreds of styles to chose from, allowing us to create the perfect look for your home. We can get as detailed or as simple as you want. While we can sometimes reuse your existing baseboards, we always recommend getting new baseboards. This is because your existing baseboards will not look new once reinstalled and they will have small chips and gauges in them. Click on baseboard photos to see different molding options.
